Long before I understood cleaning, I understood what it meant to care for others. The real reason I took an interest in cleaning at such a young age was just an excuse to stay glued to my grandmother’s hips. We shared everything, the same birthday, the same outgoing personality, but more importantly, we shared the same heart. My Granny took great care of our home but she always took better care of our community. Whenever you needed something or someone she was there with her own unique way of helping.
I feel fortunate to have been a part of the last generation who had the chance to experience what a real childhood felt like. Truthfully, I loved being dirty as a child—the soles of my feet were always covered in dirt, with my favorite person waiting to clean them. Growing up alongside her taught me something far more valuable than cleaning or staying clean for that matter. It taught me the importance of showing care through action.
My grandmother spent more than 20 years in hospitality, where she developed the values she carried through her retirement for me. Her commitment to understanding one’s needs, attention to the smallest details, even her warm spirit became the foundation of HER Cleaning Company.
